Old comic books have a way of disappearing into attic boxes, basement bins, and childhood collections without anyone giving them much thought. But certain issues have become incredibly desirable among collectors, with rare, high-grade copies selling for thousands and, in a few extraordinary cases, millions of dollars.
The highest prices tend to go to comics tied to major character debuts, important storylines, unusual printing errors, or exceptionally well-preserved copies. Based in part on research from Vintage Know How, here are 10 vintage comic books that have commanded some seriously impressive prices.

2. Avengers #1 — Marvel’s 1963 Avengers #1 brought Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, and Wasp together for the first time, making high-grade copies potentially worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
