Aldi Is Lowering Prices on Popular Grocery Items Just in Time for the Holidays

With the holidays approaching, grocery bills are probably the last thing shoppers want to see getting bigger. Between everyday meals, family gatherings, and holiday cooking, a grocery trip can easily cost more than expected.

But Aldi is making a move that could help shoppers save. The discount grocery chain recently announced an estimated $86 million investment in lower prices on popular grocery items, including fresh produce, organic products, and proteins.

According to Aldi’s official announcement, nearly one-third of its everyday in-store assortment is now priced lower than it was a year ago.

Which Aldi Groceries Are Getting Cheaper?

The latest price reductions focus on foods shoppers commonly buy during the fall, including several ingredients that could come in handy for holiday meals.

Some of the items getting lower prices include:

  • Honeycrisp apples and other apple varieties
  • Autumncrisp grapes and Bartlett pears
  • Brussels sprouts
  • Butternut and spaghetti squash
  • Fresh herbs and garlic
  • French beans and potatoes
  • Kirkwood chicken breast family packs

A couple of prices stand out. Aldi says its two-pound bags of Honeycrisp apples are now $1.99, about 35% less than last year and their lowest everyday price in more than five years.

Kirkwood chicken breast family packs are also $1.99 per pound, Aldi’s lowest everyday price on the product since 2022.

The Savings Go Beyond Fresh Produce

Aldi’s price cuts aren’t limited to fruits and vegetables. The company says it already prices hundreds of everyday products lower than in 2025.

These include ground coffee, organic whole-bean coffee, mixed nuts, dried fruit, paper towels, Elevation ready-to-drink protein shakes, and Choceur chocolate.

In a recent report from TheStreet, the retailer’s latest price reductions were also discussed as a move that could increase competition with Costco, another grocery retailer known for attracting shoppers looking to save money.

Unlike Costco, Aldi doesn’t require a paid membership, which may appeal to shoppers who want lower grocery prices without an annual fee.

How Long Will Aldi’s Lower Prices Last?

The additional price reductions began September 23 and are scheduled to remain in effect through at least November 3, 2026, at Aldi stores nationwide.

That gives shoppers a chance to save on fall groceries and some early holiday meal ingredients, though the company hasn’t confirmed whether these reductions will continue through Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Prices and availability may vary by location, and online or delivery prices may be higher than in-store prices.
