There are a few things that instantly make you feel like you’re finally home: kicking off your shoes, changing into comfortable clothes, and, for many women, taking off your bra.
In fact, 58% of women in a recent survey commissioned by Bravissimo and conducted by Talker Research said they’re eager to ditch their bra as soon as they get home. And for some, the relief can’t come soon enough, with nearly a quarter saying it comes off within the first minute of walking through the door.

The Bra Comes Off Almost Immediately
For some women, taking off their bra isn’t something that happens eventually after getting home. Nearly a quarter of those surveyed said they unclasp theirs within the first minute of walking through the door.
It’s an incredibly relatable routine: keys down, shoes off, bra gone. And apparently, plenty of women don’t want to wait until bedtime to finally get comfortable.
Some Women Think About It All Day
The countdown can begin long before anyone reaches the front door. More than half of the women surveyed said they think about taking off their bra multiple times throughout the day.
That makes finally removing it feel less like getting undressed and more like getting rid of something they’ve been tolerating for hours. If you’ve spent the afternoon adjusting a strap, tugging at a band, or waiting to change into something more comfortable, the feeling is probably familiar.
Home Isn’t the Only Place the Bra Comes Off
Some women aren’t even willing to wait until they get home. The survey found that women also admitted to taking their bras off in their cars or while visiting a friend’s house.
It turns out the desire to get comfortable can outweigh the desire to keep a bra on until the end of the day. Once it starts feeling uncomfortable, getting rid of it can quickly become the priority.

Finding a Comfortable Bra Isn’t So Simple
The urge to take off a bra right away may have something to do with fit. Bras topped the survey’s list of clothing women have trouble fitting comfortably, ahead of jeans and swimsuits.
Nearly half of respondents also said they still haven’t found what they consider their ideal bra. That means many women may be putting up with bras that don’t feel quite right.

Many Women May Be Wearing the Wrong Size
Even knowing what size to buy isn’t necessarily straightforward. Many respondents said they had figured out their bra size either by guessing or trying different sizes until something seemed to work.
Nearly two-thirds had never been professionally fitted. And because bra sizing and fit can vary between styles and brands, the number printed on the tag doesn’t always guarantee that a particular bra will feel comfortable.
An Uncomfortable Bra Could Be Trying to Tell You Something
Natalie Canavan, customer experience manager at Bravissimo, said that constantly wanting to remove your bra at the end of the day can signal that the size or shape isn’t right for you. A bra that fits properly should support you without making you spend the day counting down until you can take it off.
The right fit isn’t only about the band or cup size, either. Different breast shapes, bra styles, straps, fabrics, and support levels can all affect how comfortable a bra feels after several hours of wear.
That End-of-Day Feeling Is Apparently Pretty Universal
Taking off your bra after a long day might feel like a small personal ritual, but this survey suggests you’re far from alone. For many women, it’s one of the first steps in officially getting comfortable at home.
So if you’ve ever walked through the door and immediately reached behind your back for the clasp, there’s a good chance plenty of other women did exactly the same.
