If you haven’t already heard, I’m a huge fan of Dawn soap. It’s a powerful natural degreaser and easily one of the best dishwashing detergents out there. I use it everywhere—from my countertops and microwave to my luxury vinyl plank floors and kitchen cabinets.
But have you tried Dawn Powerwash? If you have, you probably love it as much as I do. This isn’t just any spray dish soap; it’s like magic in a bottle! Naturally, I had to figure out how to make my own refills. Luckily, I’ve discovered a simple DIY solution you’re going to love. All you need is Dawn soap, rubbing alcohol, and water.
Here’s What You’ll Need
- Large Mason Jar (We used a 32-ounce one; you could use another glass container if you don’t specifically have a mason jar)
- Spray Bottle
- Dawn Dishwashing soap (You can usually find the 8 oz bottles at the dollar store, but if not, you can also get it here)
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Measuring spoon (1 Tbsp)
Instructions
Step 1
Fill the mason jar with 26 ounces of water.
Step 2
Add 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) of rubbing alcohol.
Step 3
Measure 8 tablespoons of Dawn dish soap (approximately half of the container) and add it to the mason jar.
Step 4
Secure the lid tightly, shake the jar to mix the ingredients, and let it sit until the Dawn dish soap is fully mixed with the rubbing alcohol.
To make different amounts:
- For 16 ounces: Use 13 ounces of water, 2 ounces of Dawn dish soap, and 1 ounce of rubbing alcohol.
- For 1 gallon: Use 104 ounces of water, 16 ounces of Dawn dish soap (2 containers), and 8 ounces of rubbing alcohol.
