Bathroom cabinets have a way of filling up fast. A few things get tucked away here and there, and before you know it, you’re digging through half-used products, expired items, and things you forgot you even had.

Most of what’s taking up space probably isn’t something you actually need. Clearing it out can make your bathroom feel cleaner, easier to use, and a lot less frustrating.

Here are some common items sitting in your bathroom cabinets that are probably time to let go.

Old Towels

Towels with stains, holes, or that rough, worn feeling probably aren’t worth keeping in your bathroom cabinet. If you wouldn’t hand it to a guest, it’s a good sign it’s time to let it go.

Expired Sunscreen

Sunscreen loses its effectiveness over time, so it may not protect your skin as well as it should. If it’s been sitting in your cabinet for a while, it’s worth checking the date and replacing it if needed.

Old Hair Tools

Curling irons, straighteners, and blow dryers don’t last forever. If they’re not working properly, overheating, or showing signs of wear, it’s better to replace them than keep using something that could damage your hair.

Half Used Products You Don’t Like

We all have those products we tried once and didn’t love but kept anyway. If you haven’t reached for it in months, you probably won’t. It’s okay to let it go.

Empty or Nearly Empty Bottles

Sometimes we hold on to bottles, thinking we’ll use the last bit eventually. If it’s been sitting there for a while, it’s probably just taking up space.

Expired Medications

Old medications tend to linger longer than they should. If something has expired, it’s best not to take the risk.

Go through your medicine cabinet and check dates on anything you haven’t used in a while: cold medicine, pain relievers, vitamins, and clear out what’s no longer safe.

Old Toothbrushes

Most of us hang onto toothbrushes longer than we should. If the bristles are frayed or it’s been a few months, it’s time for a new one.

Keeping old ones around just adds clutter, unless you’re actually using them for cleaning.

Hotel Samples

Those mini bottles from hotels and travel kits seem useful at the time, but they usually just pile up. If you’re not actually using them for trips, they’re just taking up space.

Soap Scraps

Little leftover pieces of soap tend to collect over time. Unless you’re combining them into a new bar, they’re not doing much besides cluttering your cabinet.

Expired First Aid Supplies

Items like hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, and ointments lose their effectiveness over time. It’s easy to forget about these, so it’s worth doing a quick check and replacing anything outdated.
