After trying it myself, I realized it’s not really about death at all. It’s more about becoming intentional with what fills your home and your life.
The Moment It Started to Make Sense
I’ve decluttered plenty of times before. I’ve done donation runs, organized closets, and gone through those occasional “I need to clean everything right now” phases. But Swedish death cleaning felt different because the mindset behind it completely changed the way I looked at my belongings.

By the end of the week, I realized Swedish death cleaning isn’t really about preparing for death. It’s about making life lighter while you’re still living it.
It’s about keeping the things that truly matter, letting go of the things that quietly drain your space and energy, and creating a home that feels easier to live in every single day. And honestly, once I experienced that feeling for myself, I finally understood why so many people swear by it.
